February 2025

RES held drop in Information sessions in Stawell on 14 and 15 February. The information represented at the sessions can be accessed via the links below.

Project Overview; Community Benefits; Approvals Process; Project Timeline; Consultation Summary; Summary of Layout Changes; Transport and Access; Noise Assessment; Visual Assessment; Photo Montages - Donald Stawell Rd looking east, Stawell Avoca Rd (Greens Creek) looking south), Blue Hills Rd (Landsborough) looking west, Hall Rd (Bulgana) looking north.

We had a combined attendance of 23 community members. The sessions enabled us to provide the community with updates on recent changes to the project layout, finalised technical assessments and to seek community feedback on benefit sharing proposals.

The sessions were received with mixed sentiment with some concerns about potential visual and noise impact from the project, traffic during construction on local roads, and impacts to wildlife. Some concerns were raised about potential increased fire risk and property devaluation. There was lots of interest and positive feedback regarding the Neighbour Shared Benefit Scheme.

Topics raised by participants at the sessions included:

  • The construction process and how wind farms operate

  • Environmental considerations and impacts to wildlife

  • Accommodation for workers

  • Job and supplier opportunities

  • Community benefits e.g., sponsorships and grants

  • Neighbour shared benefit schemes

  • Turbine noise and visual impact

  • Rural property valuations and insurance

  • Bushfire management

  • Water usage and  water sources for construction

Once the project has been submitted for approval it will be available for public viewing and submissions from the community. We will receive instructions from the Planning Department on how the planning application must be shared with the community.
